The cancellation of the Court Challenges Program was slammed Wednesday by the country's largest legal organization, opposition parties, and at least one Tory provincial government.
The Trudeau-era program has helped fund successful court challenges that broadened the rights of Canadian seniors, women, the disabled, homosexuals, religious groups, aboriginals, and minority-language groups.
The federal Tories announced this week that cutting the program would save taxpayers $5.6 million over two years. "

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (CP) - The bodies of four Canadian soldiers killed in a suicide bomb attack Monday are on their way back to Canada.

Hundreds of troops from the NATO contingent in Afghanistan paid tribute to the soldiers as their remains were loaded onto a C-130 Hercules airplane.

Afterward, Canadian troopmates of the four fallen soldiers held a private service on the ramp of the aircraft. They streamed past the four coffins in a final farewell.

Among them was an injured soldier wearing bandages who limped through the line. Several others comforted each other with hugs.

Thirty-six Canadian soldiers have died in Afghanistan since 2002.

My betta fishie Angel has actually lived an astonishingly long life for a fish, one whole year!! He's my little sweetie, and i hope he makes it to another year.

I am painting now too. i hate painting. i find it a chore. i'm also off on drawing. i don't think i was meant to be an artist...Thank SET AND ISIS!!!
Speaking of Set and Isis...in a roundabout way. Magnus was just way too good to kill off. So, i am doing an in-depth study of his history, so i will always have a story about Magnus to amuse myself with.
I'm also planning a companion piece to "Elektra". This time i'll be bringing Sheme to light. Sheme is amazing. i'm having a love-affair with my female characters at the moment.
However i took the time to go back and write an apology to Makarios. Sweet little button...he had no idea what was coming. it's fascinating to find out exactly which characters will suddenly take off and develop. Maki-Maki was originally a footnote!!! but a hot footnote. and Frankie makes such a very good Makarios. Lookit those big wobbly eyes, that pouty mouth, he screams "MAKI ME!!!" lmao.

What a week!!

My english prof looks like House, MD. But younger and hotter. I have decided to hate him so my GPA won't fall
We have had to find yet another guardian for the lost black kitten named Squeaker aka Little One aka Io.
But I met the cat lady who raised him, and his parents. They were beauties.
Patches, the family darling, is recovering from her kidney disease and we hope she will live a long and crotchety yet comfortable life.
Sherbert dying has made the DnD group go wonky with grief and shock. i mean, that was our collective cat. stupid traffic. when they invent the flying car these things won't happen!!!
and yes, remembering 9/11 is alright but there've been plenty of other minor tragedies that i take my metaphorical hat off to.
And of course, i have to write, around my schoolwork.
